Market report on plug-in systems in Belgium
A market study on plug-in solar panels and batteries is currently being conducted within Pluginfo.
Based on several market signals, the registration data of plug-in equipments with regional network operators reflects only a portion of the number of units actually active on the territory. The objective of this study is to estimate the actual number of units installed in Belgium and within each region.
The study report is due to be published in the course of 2026. This will be the very first independent estimate of the number of operational plug-in solar and storage units in Belgium.

Why are the actual volumes of units in operation so difficult to estimate?
Unlike traditional residential solar panels and batteries, plug-in systems are very small and feed little, if any, electricity into the grid. Their most efficient set-up is to directly cover part of a household’s electricity consumption. This makes them highly cost-effective, but also largely invisible to network operators, even when they are reasonably equipped with digital meters. Added to this are the fact that registration obligations to the various network operators are still little known to the wide public, and sales channels can be difficult to trace.
